RULES & REQUIREMENTS
-
The Bowness Soccer Club plays in community recreational leagues. Although we follow most ASA
(Alberta Soccer Association) standards and rules when playing, we do adjust slightly to fit
a less competitive game. Safety standards and basic sideline expectations of both players
and parents remain the same. As a recreational community club, we play with other
like-minded
NW communities. Representatives and organizers from all communities involved meet well before
the season to agree on program standards, etc. Despite our best efforts to standardize programs,
the reality is each community will add its own beat to the league and we need to be prepared for
slight inconsistencies. We will do our best to accommodate and work through as issues come up.
- This is a volunteer based program - we pay for the costs of the program and expect volunteer
labor to get the job done. There are many opportunities to help out with the Bowness Soccer Club
and it is our expectation that each family unit helps out in at least ONE area throughout the season.
Please follow the volunteer link.
- In order to register with the Bowness Soccer Club, you must pay the specified fees and fulfill
your chosen volunteer duties or pay the $60 buy–out. Safety is our #1 concern, so please
follow the equipment regulations listed below - our referees may bench players who are not dressed
to requirements.
- Referees are provided only for U10 and up. Coaches are the "referees" for U4_U8.
- Parents are NOT ALLOWED to coach or referee from the sidelines. Any parents found to be overly vocal
or disruptive may be asked to leave the field.
- If any issues arise regarding the referee, either home or away, please
email bownesssoccer@hotmail.com to follow the proper channels of reporting
issues.
EQUIPMENT & OTHER REQUIREMENTS
- Proper equipment -For the soccer season, be sure to have:
- U4: Good outdoor shoes and we recommend shin guards
- U6/U8: Shin guards are mandatory and we recommend soccer shoes
- U10 and up: Shin guards and soccer shoes are mandatory
- Uniforms will be provided for all age groups
- Shin guards are to be worn underneath the socks. Our referees are trained to look for shin guard
usage and players may be asked to sit out the game if they are not wearing them.
- Players may not wear anything that can "catch" and become a safety hazard
on the field such as bracelets,
necklaces, watches, dangly earrings, loose headbands, etc. Our referees will ask players to remove items which
qualify as "unsafe".
